The Department of Music at the University of Chicago invites applications for a tenure-track position in Musicology. We seek a scholar to join our faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an expected start date of July 1, 2022, or as soon as possible thereafter. Minimum teaching load: four courses per year at the graduate and undergraduate levels, plus usual advising and committee responsibilities.

The University of Chicago seeks a scholar and teacher of exceptional potential working at the intersection of music and history. A successful candidate will demonstrate a rich understanding of one or more scholarly subfields; a potential for publishing novel research; an appreciation of the Department of Music’s long-standing integrated and interdisciplinary approach; the ability to shape curriculum and pedagogy creatively; and the ability to work effectively with both graduate and undergraduate students. All requirements for completion of a PhD in Music must be completed prior to the start of the appointment.
